Yesterday, I proclaimed that this area in our home is mama’s quiet spot in the house. Of course, it only lasted a few seconds before Bruce came in with a few train toys and started “chugga chugga choo choo”-ing everywhere. 😉 I feel like our living room is coming along quite nicely since April when I made the pillow covers out of my curtains. We’ve added an Ikea Lack coffee table and I finally got a chance to make a pillow case out of Heidi Kenney’s Rainbow Tears fabric.
My aloe vera plant is still alive! 🙂 It was starting to die on me but I gave it more water, put it out in the sun a little, and talked some sweet words to it and now it looks a lot better. Hehe, I don’t know which of those did the trick. Maybe all? 😉
Oh, the coffee table. We had guests over a couple weekends ago and made coffee tables out of cardboard boxes and covered them with placemats. Haha, we all had a good laugh and the conversation transitioned into fun memories of making do with what you’ve got. But since we’ll probably have friends over more often, we decided that it was time for a real table. We chose the Lack from Ikea because it was very narrow, light to move around, and just tall enough to fit my storage boxes. We all love it, especially Bruce since he uses it as a desk.
We’re still loving our tufted sofa bed. It does get cramped when Bruce joins us in the middle of the night – lots of kicks and punches to faces. But that would happen even in our old bed so we deal. 😉
I love my new pillow. It’s half pink, half raindrops, and makes me full of smiles. 🙂 Our living room is the only room closest to feeling complete. I’m hoping to add a couple more pillows, one with a black and white pattern to tie the other black and white elements, maybe a curtain, and my crochet blanket I’m still working on!
What do you think of our progress? 🙂 Did you get a chance to work on any home projects this weekend?
Lots of Smiles,
Akiyo

Our home project for the weekend was finally getting around to matching the paint that is(was) on our walls (we had a paint color, hired a painter who ended up watering it down, and so the original color no longer matched.. but I actually prefer the watered down color!). We cut out a piece of our wall and took it to Benjamin Moore to match. I went around the house on Saturday with my dad and painted over all of those “touch ups” I did when I thought the paint was going to match (which were EVERYWHERE). It is a perfect match this time and it’s amazing what a difference I feel! I no longer stare at the walls when I walk around the house..! It’s so nice! 🙂

what, watered down paint? crazy he didn’t tell you but i’m glad it turned out better! 😀 little by little… i feel like that’s how it should be when you own a home. not rushed like we did because you don’t get to enjoy the process. 🙂 which is why i’m liking my small progress in this apartment even though i know it’s not permanent.
